Short Bio
Dr Jolly Beyeza-Kashesyais a senior consultant obstetrician and gynecologist at Mulago
specialized women and Neonatal hospital, Uganda, and a fellow of the college of East
Central and Southern African College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology(FCOG(ECSA)).
Jolly holds a masters’in obstetrics/gynecology from the People’s Republic of China
(PRC); and in Business Administration (MBA) from the eastern and Southern African
Management Institute (ESAMI) and a double PhD in Reproductive Health from Karolinska
Institutet(Sweden) and Makerere University (Kampala). She has served as Executive
Director and President of the Ob/Gyn of Uganda Association. Previously, she has served
as a member of the FIGO Committee for the Ethical Aspects of Human Reproduction and
Women’s Health and as Chair of the FIGO PPH working group. Currently, she serves as
Vice-Chair of the FIGO Committee on Childbirth and PPH.
Jolly has contributed to policy documents in maternal health at the Uganda MoH and
continues to contribute to MNH through advocacy for the Sexual and Reproductive Rights
approach to MNH care. Hospital mandate includes patient care, research and teaching,
and mentoring undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD students. In addition, jolly is a
national and international trainer and facilitator of emergency obstetric and newborn
care and maternal & perinatal death surveillance and response (MPDSR) training
workshops as a team leader and in other teams as well as a member
