Water Experience

Cate enjoys supporting communities and governments to realize their water and sanitation vision. Cate is currently the Regional Director Africa for Water For People, and previously served as the Country Director for Uganda from 2012 to 2021. She has contributed 25 years of experience in strategic planning, gender, equity and diversity in WASH programme development and management, resource mobilization, driving results and mentoring young professionals. Cate has contributed to WASH sector policies and strategies for a number of programmes related to Water resource development and management, market-based sanitation, and a number of innovations in Water and Sanitation in Uganda. Cate holds an MBA from Heriot-Watt University in the United Kingdom, a MSc (with distinction) in Water Resources and Environmental Management from the Netherlands, and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Chemistry and Geology from Makerere University Uganda. Cate enjoys reading and spending time with her family. Her work contributes to gender equity in water use management and research through local and national programmes implemented in Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and Malawi. We facilitate, build capacity and support start up enterprises in WASH. As a community leader, Cate challenges water issues by being a champion of change, especially on WRM issues.
