Women Plus Water

"My lived experience in recurring instances of acute shortage of water for daily cosumption motivated my engagement in water justice and governance."

Water Experience

I study transboundary rivers between Nepal–India and the USA–Canada, focusing on how damming as a hegemonic approach intensifies disasters and conflicts among borderland communities. My research highlights how women and marginalized caste groups, despite being most affected by water scarcity and floods, remain excluded from decision-making. Through feminist and network-based analyses, I document women’s lived experiences and advocate for their recognition as active agents in water governance. By centering gendered and social inequalities in transboundary water management, my work contributes to reimagining more equitable and inclusive approaches to water sharing and climate adaptation across borders.
