"I am a young researcher with high hopes for intergenerational research programs dedicated to the protection of water in its many forms."
Water Experience
My PhD in Physical Geography is giving me the incredible opportunity to travel along the coast of Labrador, meeting communities and conducting research on culturally significant peatlands. The permafrost under the peatlands are thawing, which is changing the way people work and live on the land. In my research, I hope to engage community in participatory mapping and to invite people of all ages and stages to engage with research. I hope that this work will allow me to engage with youth, as I have a background of creating and implementing water-based youth programs (as one of the two program leaders for the Sudbury-based Junction Creek Stewardship Committee's Empowering Youth in Junction Creek) and with research commitments to youth engagement (thesis about climate change programming for youth during the COVID-19 pandemic).
