"I am a female researcher and consultant,"

"My lived experience in the Horn of Africa, and in Nigeria, where water scarcity impacts livelihoods and fuels conflicts, drives my passion for equitable water management. "

"Growing up witnessing these challenges, I am committed to researching and promoting solutions that ensure access, address inequalities, and foster peace in water-stressed regions."

Water Experience

My work explores the intersection of water security, regional stability, and sustainable development, especially in vulnerable and marginalised groups. Questions have been raised if the prospect of water wars in the 21st century is a mere speculation or an inevitable reality. In my research on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), I analyze how water management impacts cooperation or conflict among Nile Basin countries. As a peacebuilding professional, I’ve supported initiatives addressing water-related conflicts, advocating for inclusive stakeholder engagement to amplify marginalized voices, particularly women. Additionally, I’ve contributed to studies on drought’s effects on agriculture and livelihoods, emphasizing equitable water access. The contention over water, especially in regions already prone to conflict is detrimental to the stability of nations and sustainability. My research aims to influence policies and ensure sustainable transboundary water management.
