Water Experience
I wrote my dissertation on household water insecurity in a small town in the semiarid region of Northeast Brazil during drought. My current work includes qualitative and quantitative methods, assesses governance of regional water systems, measures and evaluates water insecurity in rural and urban areas. My work contributes to a new approach to household water insecurity in Brazil, engaging debates on human development and water, which goes beyond discussions related to large water infrastructure, planning, and resource management, but includes issues about gender and vulnerable people with poor access to water. My studies also highlight the effects of public and social policies on water infrastructure and access to water.
