"My lived experience comes from inhabiting areas that are disproportionately affected by the climate crisis, such as the Peruvian Andes, which are highly vulnerable in terms of water and social issues."
"I am committed to advocating for a science that is not only data-driven but also sensitive; that accounts for the structural inequalities and the everyday realities of the water bodies and territories that sustain life."
Water Experience
My expertise in water is built upon a transdisciplinary work in the Peruvian Andes, where I have transitioned from the technical rigor of environmental engineering to a critical doctoral focus on water and territory. I practically challenge conventional water management by shifting the focus from large-scale "technocratic" hazard control to the everyday impacts of climate change in mountain regions. My work contributes to gender and epistemic equity by employing the "cuerpo-territorio" (body-territory) framework, which centers the voices and lived experiences of women and indigenous communities whose bodies are disproportionately affected by both glacial retreat and exclusionary water hierarchies. As a young leader within the JovenANDEX scientific committee and through my doctoral research, I advocate for a "pluralist adaptation"—one that moves beyond seeing water simply as a resource to be controlled, instead recognizing it as a vital element that connects people, ecosystems, and local ontologies in a shared web of life.
