Thesis Description

Chris Perra's graduate research will focus on evaluating how water used by the energy resource extraction industry may be impacting the total available water supply. He is particularly interested in investigating the pathways by which industry activities may result in the contamination of potable aquifers. His initial focus will be on studying whether failures in well integrity might promote the migration of contaminants between aquifer units in locations with suitable pressure or buoyancy gradients for fluids to migrate.
