Thesis Description

My current PhD in Environment and Sustainability focuses on the potential impacts of natural and human activities (through changes in wetlandscapes features and climate change in the Lake Winnipeg watershed) on the apparent increase in phytoplankton blooms in Lake Winnipeg. I will use remote sensing to characterize more than 30 years of changes in phytoplankton (chlorophyll a) biomass data that have been calibrated with ground-based lake phytoplankton pigments data. I will also use remote sensing to identify and map wetlands and surface connectivity in the Lake Winnipeg watershed for more than three decades and to extract different wetlandscapes metrics from these data.
