Thesis Description

Keegan Jellicoe's research involves looking at groundwater in the Bakken oil field in South Eastern Saskatchewan and the potential effects of leaking legacy oil wells forming pathways leading to the contamination of freshwater aquifers with deeper brine, due to the presence of water flooding increasing formation pressures. These mixing fluids make it difficult to predict groundwater flows and pressures, requiring detailed modelling.
