Madison is a research technician at the Coldwater Lab in Canmore, AB, specializing in remote sensing data collection using drones. She has a BSc in Physical Geography from Queen’s University and a MSc in Geography from the University of Manitoba, where she researched the influence of surface melt on the passive microwave signature of sea ice in Hudson Bay. Since then, Madison has used drones in a wide range of research topics, including tracking the movements of beluga whales using machine learning, detecting algae blooms in retention ponds, and most recently mapping the snow pack in the Canadian Rockies using drone-based LiDAR.
