Jarett Crosby Graduates from the SENS MWS Program
Water Sustainability and Water Security for Apple Production in Shandong Province
The Project
Jarett teamed up with fellow MWS student Tianze Pang, a student from Ludong University, China to do frequent sampling over the course of a week, along with a literature review, to give more insight on how water is moving through the trees.
"China contributes over half the world’s apple production. Apple production is the #1 economic driver for Shandong province. But unlike many other areas in China and elsewhere in the world, apple production in Shandong province requires irrigation on shallow soils to sustain apple production. As a result, water use, water loss and water quality are all critical factors for sustainability and security of apple production in Shandong."
Congratulations Jarett and all the best in your future endeavors.
