GIWS part of partnership building new centre for sustainable water management
GIWS joins partners across North America to support training and research on sustainable water use.
The Global Institute for Water Security (GIWS) at the University of Saskatchewan is part of a partnership supporting the creation of a new National Centre for Ecologically Sustainable Water Conservation and Management (Centre), which will be hosted by Oregon State University.
GIWS is one of several key academic partners contributing expertise to the centre, alongside the Oregon State University, Colorado State University, and the University of Florida. Their involvement will help support the centre’s mission to provide training, research, and services that improve how water is allocated and managed to meet both human and ecological needs. The Centre will offer interdisciplinary training programs and resources for people and organizations involved in water‑related decision‑making.
The new centre was announced by the Instream Flow Council and the American Fisheries Society following a national search and proposal process involving leading academic institutions across North America.
