Strategic Research Committee
We are accepting Submissions of Interest to be a part of the GIWS Strategic Research Committee (SRC)! Submissions will be accepted until Friday, August 22. See below for more information and instructions.
The Strategic Research Committee (SRC) plays a vital role in advancing the mission of the Global Institute for Water Security (GIWS) by shaping the future of water research at USask. We are currently inviting nominations and self-nominations for new members to join this committee.
The SRC provides strategic advice to GIWS on emerging research themes, innovative team-based initiatives, and major funding opportunities. Members contribute to setting research priorities, supporting large-scale transdisciplinary proposals, and strengthening GIWS’s leadership in water science and innovation.
In addition to its core responsibilities, the SRC oversees two key subcommittees:
- Awards and Recognition Subcommittee – Celebrates the achievements of GIWS members and enhances their visibility through internal and external awards.
- Water Fridays Subcommittee – Curates and delivers engaging events that foster collaboration, professional development, and partnerships across academia, industry, government, and the community.
Call for Submissions of Interest
Deadline: No later than 5:00 PM on Friday, August 22, 2025
We are looking for members across disciplines and career stages, including faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and research associates. The committee values diverse perspectives and expertise, and members are selected through a nomination and review process led by the GIWS Executive.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape the strategic direction of water research at USask and contribute to a vibrant, transdisciplinary community committed to global water security.
