GIWS seeks student for joint Sask. & Australia PhD opportunity
PhD project to be based at the U of S and at CSIRO in Australia
GIWS is currently seeking a student to participate in a joint Ph.D. programme between the University of Saskatchewan (U of S) and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industry Research, Organization, Australia (CSIRO) to study groundwater-related challenges of unconventional oil and gas development. This will include comparative analysis of operational opportunities and environmental risk in Saskatchewan and Australia. Issues to be addressed include groundwater resources to support unconventional oil and gas development, fluid disposal capacity of deep aquifer and impacts to shallow groundwater.
This project will be based at the U of S in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada but will also require that the student spend time at CSIRO in Australia. The project is fully funded for a four-year period, including travel expenses for research to be conducted in Australia.
